There is a documented project for retrofitting fold-down seats. I don't think it was this forum though. The parts are available for the latches and release levers and the attachment points are all in place. Of course one has to find fold-down seats in the color they want first.

Thanks for all the replys.....eventually got the lower part up by giving it a good yank on both sides.

When I removed the backrest in my car, there wasn't anything left between the trunk and the cabin. The backrest was held in with two bolts in the lower edge, two screws on both lower corners and the metal locks (those that you have to release from the trunk) on the upper edge.
