Well I have been wanting a 5 for a long time now, currently drving a Suburban. I have a 7 and 5 year old, those of you with kids, is there enough room for them back there? I know it is not an suv but are your kids comfortble? Set things up for the move by getting the wife an XC-90. I know I will be happy with the car but need to make sure it will be functionable for the family when they are in it.

Thanks,

William

My kids are about the same age and they have no complaints. The rear 12v outlets even let my oldest charge his gameboy on trips.

Ditto. My boys are 5 and 7 as well and have no problems in the back seat. I am 6' 3" so the driver's seat is pushed all the way back, meaning I did get some kicks in the back once in a while but it didn't take long to break that habit.

That being said, my car is only used around town, occasional pick from school or to the park. For the longer trips we use my wife's X5, just like I'm sure you'll use the XC-90.

I have a 10 year old daughter and a tall 8 year old boy. Both really like the car. Get dynamic drive as an option - less chance of car sickness. My daughter used to regularly get motion sickness during driving on fast twisty roads but not in the E60. The hard ride on run flats probably helps with that too.

Thanks for the response everyone. So I presume like 99% of the reviews I have read you all love your cars?

Getting excited about the switch, will miss the space of the Suburban but looking forward to the fun of the BMW.

Very pleased with the car after nearly three years of driving. Like you I went from a Yukon XL (GMC version of suburban) to the 5. Do miss the space very occasionally but the biggest adjustment was getting used to being one of the little people again. I was so used to being up so high in the SUV that getting back down close to the road took some getting used to!

Great, I was wondering if there were many people that have come from the Surburban to the 5. I have always loved the 5, I used to drive Acuras, but lately have had Suburbans for the kids. I will miss my Suburban, it has been great, and the new ones are really nice, but I think it is time for a change. I agree with you, it is going to be strange being low to the ground again. So if you had to do it again, would you stay with the 5 or go back to the Yukon XL?

No doubt what so ever, stay with the 5! We have very similar tastes, I had driven an RX-7 and an Integra for years before I moved to an Explorer and then the Yukon XL. Will never go back to an SUV, the 5 is so much more fun to drive.

Wow thats funny... worried if theres enough room for kids in the back of a 5 series... It makes more sense if it was asked for adults... kids cant be "that big" to be uncomfortable in the back of a mid sized sedan... Guess you'll never consider a 3 series or a Civic or something small.
