I got a great deal on a set of new 17" dunlop M3 runflat (dsst) winter tires and new rims. My 530 does not have the sport package so my stock wheels are also 17" with Goodyear non-runflat tires. The stock ride was great but with runflats I feel like I'm driving a truck. City driving and wet traction are good but on the highway, above 120 km/h, the ride is super harsh and shaking. I think I'm feeling the effects of a stiff tire as opposed to a vibration. The winter wheels were balanced, checked for surface irregularities etc. twice on the machine at the time of installation and checked out fine. They are hubcentric. I understand alot of people have had problems with the summer DSST tire and I imagine adding a snow tread would only make things worse. Do I need to throw these out and buy new?

Give them some time to break in. How many miles are on them?

Only a few hundred miles. How long should it take?

I also have the dunlop wintersports m3 dsst.. My first set wasn't round and they couldn't get them balanced properly.

I had them balanced on a hunter balancing machine and it turned out the tires where not round.

I got a completely new set of tires and they are mounted and balanced now.. The ride is perfect and much better then with the 18" runflats.

After 2000 kms the tires are starting to feel a bit unbalanced again but it isn't as bad as I had before with the first set.

I would suggest getting the rims with tires balanced on a hunter balancing machine and you will surely now if the tires are okay..

I've had them on another car and they were perfect. Remember they don't come in runflat.

I think that is better anyway. The tire monitoring system works great. I have had the displeasure of using it when I got a flat. I couldn't even feeel it but the sensor worked great.

I have the same tires. Made the mistake and bought them in runflat.
The car feels like a vibrator at lower speeds, but higher speeds are fine.
I just thought runflats are neet, if I get a flat on I95 during the rush hour, I can at least get off the interstate safely.

Same here. Give them some time. Actually, when I first got my 525 non sport, it didnot feel that great. After a couple of weeks, it felt like a dream.

I took my chances and went with the 17" nonrunflats. Was advised against them by the TireRack rep. Glad I did.

The ride is good (better than the 18" portenza sport package oem), but the handling is what you would expect with more sidewall and the tread design.
