I've tried pluggin in the Aux wire from my iPhone 3G to the Aux port in the middle rear console and it does not work. Tied the same in my friends Lexus IS and works fine. Wondering if this is something I need to have the Dealer reprogram or activate to work? I have a 2007 525i and my factory radio just play MP3 CDs fine if this makes any difference?

if you cannot select "AUX" as an option under "entertainment" in your i-drive, you may need to have the dealer activate it. It should have been activated from the factory, that being said, your dealer should not charge you.

I am able to select Aux, which cause the screen to display "external source" -however, I cannot hear anything even with the volume all cranked up?

you should be hearing stuff. sounds crazy, make sure the volume is up on the ipod and make sure you have a good wire...
Volume is up to max on both car and iPhone. Wire is confirmed to be good, since it's been tested on my buddy's Lexus parked next to mine.

I just noticed.. Middle rear console? Is that really where they put the aux in from the factory? I know for sure that if you have one installed by the dealer, it's in the glove box.. ?

just checked last night and there's nothing in the glovebox. The factory installed Aux input is in the rear center console, even states so in the Manual
