Is there any way to make use of the aux input without buying the kit from the dealer? I just spent a lot of money on my E60 and don't really want to spend a minimum of $300 on this kit. please help!

Hi,

Your message doesn't make that sense - if you haven't purchased the kit, then your car _doesn't have Aux input_. You either have it or you don't? There is no aux input on the back of your stereo until you get the upgrade, which also includes a software update to the i-drive to enable it.

Well you need to tell us the MY of your E60 at least. If MY07 it came with AUX-IN already. If MY06 and earlier then you do not have AUX-IN and have to go BMW aftersales route. This requires parts acquired through BMW, install (DIY or BMW or 3rd party) and software coding after hardware installed.
