Nope, just LCI models i belive!!! after 07 if your in the UK!!

i believe all model years can have an auxiliary jack installed if not already equipped, and that typically requires a software update in addition to the hardware. Also have read that some members have tapped into existing harnesses to devise a 'makeshift' auxiliary jack but i'm not that handy enough and didn't go that route

As far as where the jack is located, from factory i think it's in the glove compartment but many board members, including myself have had it installed in the armrest compartment in the center console. It's all about how you want to customize it.

Yes and yes. The [physical] AUX install is very easy - just time consuming. It will required the dealer to code it in - and depending on the level of software on the car it might be a long update (mine took 10 hours of updates before they could code the AUX input).

You don't need BMW's AUX harness but, unless you have all the parts on hand, it makes the job a lot easier. Plus the BMW harness is wrapped in a nice cloth to protect it from rattling - it's very elegant for a a few pieces of wire.

some of the E60's have it in the back of the center console...in between the 2 vents.

yeah i got lucky n found mine in the glove box
