Hi,

On my dial to left of the steering wheel there is a manual setting two clicks to the right of the center position. This position will turn on the low beam manually. On the left side of the center position there is an identical icon / symbol for the low beam but it has the letter "A" included in the symbol.

Does this mean that my car is specified with automatic headlamp (on/off) pending ambient lighting conditions? I did not order this feature. Is it standard spec for E60?

How do I determine if I got the Adaptive Headlights?

/Knubblo
All US models have adaptive and xenon. The Auto lights feature is also standard, but if your dealer set it to daytime running lights (drl), the "A" is light having lights on full time day or night. Please update your location.

I have a small LED which is lit when I put the lightswitch in the A mode. Does this really mean that I have adaptive lights? I tried to simulate it being parked in front of my garage but I could not determine any change of light (horisontal)

I am still very doubtful, could someone attach a picture which would make it possible to confirm the adaptive light feature installment?

Please help...

Not quite true. DRL (set by dealer) has nothing to do with automatic headlights. If you are driving in bright sunlight your DRL's will be on, but the headlights (and green indicator next to the switch) will be off.

No not all US models have the adaptive headlights.. and not all even have the xenon.. I've seen some 5's here with the halogens.. DRL really has nothing to do with this.. if he has them on or off when in A mode the car will either 1) Turn on xenons due to darkness 2) Keep off xenons and have DRL's on (if enabled) due to lack of darkness

Have a close Iook at the actual xenon light mounting. If you have adaptive lights you will see BMW DYNAMIC XENON written on the silver ring around the light.

There is a close-up pic in my gallery which shows this.

Just an update tot his post
In the US 525's come standard with halogen
All 530's, 550's (xi or i) come standrad with Xenon/Adaptive - so since you have a520xi - you have Xenon adaptive headlights.
