Automated coolant bleed
Last year when I needed to bleed the coolant system, I decided to use ISTA+
ISTA triggered the water pump to start the bleed process and I could see all 18 steps of the process. I can't remember how I navigated ISTA to trigger the bleed process. Anyone recall the path and steps inside ISTA? |
Vehicle management
Service functions Engine DME Cooling system bleeding Bleeding high-temperature coolant circuit: ,,ABL-DIT-AS1214_BX8_ENTKUEHL" I think this is it. It's been a while. |
I'll give your method a try and see what happens today.
I'll provide an update later... |
You don't need ISTA: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...ing_System.htm
"Turn the ignition ON (do not start engine). Set the temperature controls in the vehicle interior to full warm and the blower fan speed to Low. Press the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold it down for ten seconds. Run the electric coolant pump for about 12 minutes to circulate coolant and bleed air from the cooling system. Once the pump has run the cycle, check the level of coolant in the expansion tank and adjust it as needed." |

I just did the ISTA coolant bleed process and captured all the screens for others to use the process or learn from (PDF attachment).
The interesting part about this process is how ISTA changes the water pump RPM's up and down. I captured one screen showing the water pump was at 224 RPM at one point. Next: The last time I did the bleeding process I must have done it with INPA. The INPA pictorials are much better. INPA shows you all 18 steps of the process. I wish I could remember the INPA path and INPA process to bleed the coolant system. If anyone remembers please post here. See screen shots attached. |
