I had a 740i sport with Dinan software that removed the speed limiter. Two or three times the speedometer was buried (155) and the tach kept going. I believe my 740i (300 dinan hp) maxed out @ 165. A smaller, lighter and more aerodynamic 550i with 60+ more hp and another gear in the transmission should approach 180. I'll let you know if Dinan releases software that removes the limiter...

Replace the windshield. There is a Service Bulletin about it.

I got 164mph after DMS re-map. Before that 157mph (see pic). :devil:

Watch your gas gauge, it's closed to empty :)
You have the advantage that the gas tank is closed to empty.

Just shy of an indicated 160 mph, with the roof open. I was racing another car and it escalated to this so no time to close the roof.
