No I know what your talking about. They will stay on for a while at least. I turned my lights on because in pa you have to have the headlights on while it is raining and it was not dark enough for the sensor to turn them on itself. when I came out of the mall after being in there for about 9 hours they were still on! OOPS! LOL It did not do anything to the battery because like you said your regular lights turn off but the parking lights stay on. Even my old 3 series did the same thing and I left them on for hours at a time by accident of corse! Hope this helps

The next time you want to turn on the lights in the rain without moving the dial from the automatic setting, just hit the fog lights button. This will not only turn on your fogs, but it will also turn on your headlights. The beautiful thing about this is that when you reach your destination, the lights will go completely off all by themselves and you don't have to worry about remembering to shut them off. lol its all about one side but not the other, lol we can leave the lights on and it could be off in a few minutes if we do it right but never comes on when press unlock. Just like we can roll windows down by the remote but not up lollll

On the UK spec car you can configure the side-lights to stay on for a limited time when the car is locked or unlocked.
This is configured from the Idrive on my LCI 2008 car. Most of the time I just pull on the high beam, which stays on for 20 secs while I get to my front door. |
Why do you want the headlights to turn on when you unlock your car? I think that draws too much un-necessary attention to the car, it already turns on the puddle lamps

But the problem with driving with fog lights on in the rain is that is dazzels the hell outa the guy coming the other way because the fogs bounce off the wet road and reflect the light back-up into oncoming traffic. Particularly on unlit country lanes. The rain sensor trick is a good tip though. |
