Not to treadcrap or anything but for me, it will take a long time again for me to go back to Jap car, I don't care how nice it looks or how fast it is.
I have owned 3 bimmers, 2 audis and a G35 coupe MT in 5 years and the G35 is the most unrefined car of them all.
The doors sounds like they will fall apart when you close 'em. The sunroof makes a slight creek when you make a turn on an uneven road, that is while it is closed. That car feels like there's no grip at all even with 19" summers. The leathers feels and looks like vinyl. The interior ergonomics leaves nothing to be desired.
I fell in love with the exhaust sound before I bought it - but after a few weeks of owning it, I got annoyed. It's "fake" exhaust sound is just so fake, it doesn't have the power or speed to match. I get 18.8mpg on average with the G for a 3.5 V6 - that's for normal driving. I get a couple miles per gallon with my V8 and mid-20's with my V6.
With the G, I need to get to 3rd gear to get to 60mph and I really need to work the engine up to get to that speed. My 545i can go to 60mph in 2nd gear and it doesn't even feel like the car is worked hard and under stress. No comment on the suspension, even a kid will know the difference between a good and bad suspension.
I drove the G35 for less than 4K miles, sold it and I've never been happier. For me, a car is not just about HP/TQ anymore, its about how the car touch your senses and how it give you smiles while you drive it. I know this GT-R is totally different beast, but I expect all the Japanese car characteristic with this car again - it may be a good track car - but I don't drive to a track to go to work or pick up my kids.

Not sure I agree with you about the lack of grip with the 19", maybe your tires were different than mine. I had a G35 coupe with the sport package (sport suspension and 19" rims and tires) and it is definitely a better handling car than my 545i with sport package (18" rims and tires, sport suspension, dynamic drive and active steering) I don't mind the lesser handling of the 545i since it is a much bigger and heavier car.
I have to agree with you about the total lack of refinement and the fake exhaust sound of the G though. I also agree with you about the way the engine needs to work so much harder. But that's to be expected given that the 545i has a V8!

I had sports suspension, 19" rims/tires and aero package and driving it to DC is like driving a bike. It's just too stiff but lacks the refined handling of my Bimmers, every time I drive in a rough road, I had to drive very slow.
Last December, I was driving on an interstate at 35mph while its raining. It felt so slippery, the tail was swerving and the car didn't gave me confidence to drive faster than 35mph........while everyone was doing 60mph.
