I have noticed something going on with my car. Many times while parked, I will listen to the radio. I know that after a certain amount of time the radio will turn off. I always thought this was controlled by a timer of sorts. But lately, the radio has been shutting off much sooner than it used to. If I turn the key on then off and turn the radio back on, it will only stay on for a short time.

My question is this: Will the radio shutoff when the battery drops to a certain voltage, is it controlled only by a timer, or is it a combination of both? I have searched the forum, but found nothing specific to this. My concern, if it is responding to a voltage drop in the battery, is that my battery may be going bad. It is the original battery in a 03/04 production car.

Mine shuts off almost immediately after turning the car off. The only way to get it to come back on is with the key in the 'on' position or with the car started.

Love to find a setup option for keeping the radion on with the key off.

You should be able to push the rubber volume knob next to the CD slot to make it come back on with the key off. Mine has always done this, but as I said in my original post, the time it stays on varies quite a bit.
