Auto lock problem

Hi all,
I have set the IDrive ->vehicle setting -> door locks -> lock if no door opened.
This was working a month ago and it would automatically lock all doors if the driver
door is not opened for about 2-3 minutes, but it is only working occasionally now
(probably 1-5 times). Anyone has similar problem?
Thanks

awkl, do you change or use both keys? I think each key will save it's own settings. Just a thought

Both keys have the same symptom, but I normally stick with the same key once it is working. But after a short
journey and the problem comes back.
I think, the settings which allow to be set via the iDrive (only some) should be able to store in the key, so
both keys should be programmed to work at least for this function.
Thanks,

Maybe wrong, but I think you have to set up each key individually. The keys don't know what each other knows.

How to set up each key individually?
The only way I know is to program the key via iDrive and both keys have been used for driving with the same
setting in the iDrive. I suppose, the settings in iDriver would be automatically loaded to the key (or may be
stored in the car's computer with identification for each key?) when it is inserted in the ignition.
More detailed explanations would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,
I eventually find the answer to the problem from the other forum
discussion http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=299436
It is in fact is not a problem but rather a feature which does not
explained very well in the manual. It may be everyone understand the
feature well except me, anyway, try to share the information for
those who don't know.
There are 2 auto-lock features which can be configured via IDrive
(at least for my UK 520d SE model).
(1) auto-lock when drive off at about higher than 9mph. This is a useful
safety feature, found out why if it is not working.
(2) "lock if no door open" - This actually only works with the following
sequences,
(i) the car is locked and alarm is alarmed
(ii) the car is unlocked via key or remote control
(iii) no door is opened
(iv) the auto-lock will re-lock after a pre-set timeout. For my
car it is almost exactly 2 mins.
For the most commonly used case, if you drive off, all door are
locked (by the central lock button or auto-lock as described in (1) above)
and later on you stop and you or any passenger exit the car, the car
will NOT relocked automatically.
Be noted that, this relocking feature does not enable the alarm system
and the fuel filling door can still be opened.
I think, the concept behind this feature is to prevent the car is
unintentionally or accidentally unlocked, e.g. when you put the key in the
pocket of your tight jeans!
Please let me know if you car behave differently.
Cheers
