Yes this sucks as you have to turn the knob on and off to have AE at daytime. I have Motorcept's Mtec V3 and I went to John at Motorcept to program my AE as a daytime RL he checked it but he sad there ia no such option to turn them on, and there is no way to do so even wiring them . I do know but this guy knows BMW lights better than anyone else. So I am getting used to it now to turn on and off the lights all the time I start/ turn off the car.

Well I have turned off DRL and checked the lights during the morning sun. Light is green on the auto switch and low beams still on all the time. It must be set to super sensitive.
Its a pain in the ass as auto lights are handy for switching themselves off when you leave the car. I have forgotten the lights on position 1 before and drained the battery.

So what we have established is that low beams (as well as angel eyes) come on pre-LCI cars when DRL is ticked. If DRL is unticked then nothing is on during the day.
So the OP has nothing wrong with his lights or sensors and if you want angel eyes to come on as DRL you need to get it coded.

Not so for my 6/2004 (pre-LCI, USA) 545i with bi-xenons and adaptive headlights. I have DRL set to on. I leave the switch in the AUTO position and the halogen (inner) light is used at low power setting for the DRL (I bleive AE are on as well, but need to confirm this one). The inner light is used for the "flash-to pass" feature and the bi-xenon (outer) light is used for normal low and high beams. If I have the xenon set to high beam and active flash-to-pass, the xenon stays in high beam setting AND the halogen (inner) light comes on full power. When the headlights are on (due to low ambient light), the dimmed halogen (inner) lights are off.
The light switch never leaves the AUTO setting, so not sure how it operates when set to ON.

That's why my response above should have ended the thread
