Hi! Recently my audio problems become worse.
Let me ask your experience of this problem.
Mine doesn't have premium sound option.
Sometimes mine produces only base sound which means
I cannot hear tweeter sound.
But this problem happened very randomly.
Today it happened 3 times.
Do you have this problem?
Thank you for your inputs.

sh - I had standard sound in an '01 Z3, and eventually sold the car because of it. I learned my lesson after that.

To be quite frank, I think it's probably working OK, but that it's just not as good as you'd like for it to be.

Base BMW sound systems are, in my opinion, substandard, at best.

sh where are you from. Can't tell from your profile. Are you in the US. I take it you are not since you mentioned standard stereo.

We're you playing a CD or the radio?
If you weren't using a CD, try a CD that you are familiar with and listen to how it sounds over a period of time. If the same thing happens, it would seem to be component problem.

If it's the radio that's the problem, try different stations.

Maybe take it back to the dealer and have the system tested.

Maybe a lose wire? I can't see how else you could randomly gain and lose treble. Well actually on old electronic equipment, do you remember when you would turn the volume knob it would get scratchy and the volume would fluctuate? Might be somthing like that also where there is a problem with the actual hardware but I don't think that happens any more since it is mostly software conrolling these settings. Am I right? Not an electrical engineer. Just guessing.

For me it sounds like you're right about the lose wire...

Today it happened again.
So I checked carfully, and then
I can say that there are no sound through speakers except 2 speakers under front seats when it happened. So I tried to restart my car several times. Finally I can hear sound through all speakers.
Is this software problem or lose wire problem as you mentioned?
I visited dealers with software issues like "antitrap windows", "air bag warnings" etc. This visit will be the 4th or 5th service.
Thanks again

It just sounds like you need to send it to the dealer, instead of you guessing and worrying about it

50k car, let the dealer deal with it, you bought the car for peace of mind, not to worry the mind

IMO anything little thing wrong with the car for the next 4 years or 50k miles, the dealer will see me.
