When I had my car I had some issues with rough idle, then one day it started to misfire. I had a diagnosis complete and replaced all 8 coil packs (2 had failed), since then it has been much better. Very occasionally I get a slight lumpy idle when the car is stone cold, but once it warms up the motor is very smooth.

A note about the BMW brand fuel additive; I spoke with my local shop foreman who said the OEM fuel additive is the same thing as Chevron with Techron fuel additive you can pick up at most convenience stores. He said "its the the Chevron brand with a BMW label".

Interesting and I didn't know that. Yes, I always use Techron (yes chevron). Btw it costs me $12 the bottle. I guess the BMW labeled is pricey?.
