Thanks for the info; I’ll be waiting for the images of the item replaced. My car is 08, 528i N52 and have replaced few things trying to solve rough idle and now I am getting randomly cylinders misfires on different cylinders every morning without any engine light come on yet.

My Ride: 2008 550I LOADED, all options except HUD and NV

UPDATE: There is an elbow joint at the bottom of the vacuum pump that the mechanic thought was the problem, it's a $12 part that gets brittle with age and cracks easily. However, it turned out that my vacuum pump itself cracked in half, so the repair was a little more than originally thought ($160), still very reasonable considering the alternatives (O2 sensor = $150 each X 3, Secondary Air Pump ~$200, Coil packs $35 X 6, etc). I will post pics later.

Okay, here is what happened to my car:
First, this is what your vacuum pump is supposed to look like:

Here is what mine looked like:

Here is the elbow the mechanic thought was the issue at first, he said it gets brittle over time and can crack:

Lastly, I have an elbow running from my Secondary Air Pump to the motor, that for some reason was held together with electrical tape. The mechanic replaced that one as well as a precaution:
