Yeah it looks far better than cloth, which I think looks pretty boring especially in this class of car. I think it might become quite a popular option, indeed a bargin! I think BMW should offer it in different colours, I wonder if it's available on the different seat varitions (comfort/sport etc), it would look even better if it was perforated. What about the steering wheel, gear surround and handbrake, is that leather?

The steering wheel is leather, but not sure about the gear surround/handbrake. The price list for the E60 does list exactly what is fusion or leather at the back (I don't have a copy at work to look at!).

The artificial leather is available only in black and beige, and only with the standard seats.

Isn't it leather parts that have basically been chopped up and glued together?

Like meatloaf.

Or SPAM.
Or fast food chicken nuggets....or Joan Rivers' face.

Especiall the MINI.. the Leatherette and Leather is sooooooo different. No texture in the Leatherette...
Actually, texture on both leather and leatherette is man-made - the leather you have in your car is processed in a way that it looses its texture. The texture needs to be pressed into the leather, just like leatherette. The only BMW leather that has natural texture is Napa leather, it is available only for M-cars.

Shrugs whatever way they process it All I know is the leatherette feel in the MINIs is very rubbery...

The pics of the BMWs look better and I would suggest it over the cloth...

Yes, 2006 models now have a start/stop button and a different key.
