how many quarts does a 2006 530i (no dipstick) require? Please site your source (no link needed). I just got the car and spent 15mins arguing with my mechanic that it should be 6.9 quarts, and he insisted that he's being doing 8 quarts. I finally caved and said fine. 500miles later, no issues, oil level is full.

8 quarts = too much
We put in 7 quarts of oil when we do an oil change for the 530i.

I do my own oil change and I'm Trinity Autosport on this one. Is your tech actually using 7 qts or just charging you for 8 qts? A Lexus shop charged 6 qts on my free maintenance service order, when the manual stated 4.8 qt, as is my own oil change experience.

Wow am I gonna raise some hell after Thanksgiving. I had 2 cases (12 quarts) that I personally brought. I'm surprised that the oil sensor level hasn't said there is too much oil (maybe due to the 0-40w). I'm even more pissed that I drove this long with that much extra oil.

looks like the mechanic is trying to pull a fast one, or does not know what he is doing
probably opened the next bottle and figured out that he did not need it and charged you for it

Happy thanksgiving guys!

Shows the problem of no dipstick, can you really trust the electronic measurement?
