hey everyone, last month my brother told me that there was a recall for all 5 series nd 6 series and BMW Germany recalled more than 1.3 million cars.
anyway I received a letter by mail from bmw today pointing the same recall issue i was told by my brother.
here is what the description of problem as written in the letter:
"the issue involve a battery cable bolt connection in the trunk. Specifically, this bolt connection is secured to the trunk floor panel by insulted bulkhead connecter. The insulted bulkhead connecter may have been incorrectly attached to the trunk floor panel. Overtime, this can lead to a loosing of bolt connection and cause an overheating condition.
overheating could lead to smoldering of the floor mat. this could farther lead to a fire in the vehicle trunk, and ultimately to the rest of the vehicle, even in a vehicle with the ignition in the off position."
have anyone received this letter too? have you visited the dealership about it or taken any action? this should be fixed at no charge as the letter says.
I am planning to take my car to the dealer in 3 weeks since i have exams this week then i have to trips to Vegas and DC.
