Anything I should know about bmw 545i 04 ?

From what I learned on this site the 04 had programming problems for a first year car these issues were eventually eliminated through updated programming so by now they should be nonexistent. Watch for coolant leaks usually from the coolant reservoir getting hairline cracks and additionally from other areas using a similar type of plastic used for the cooling pipes.Also listen for knocking from the engine which I believe was the lifters. Seen some people get it replaced for free. That's all I can think of and that I've read about. Other than that the car is great. Got my 04 545i in August and love it. A powerful extremely solid car, tight and great handling.

yeah as he mentioned, lots of known electrical problems since it was the first year(s) of production for the E60/idrive. some of the kinks may be fixed via software, but seeing as most 04-05s do not have warranties anymore, it's a risky buy in my book. the worst though was the 745, it was kind of the experiment car into the new technology of idrive and such.

ccc problems with all the early models, not just the 545I
peeling interior paint, all models.
oil leak at the pressure switch.
oil leak at the valve covers.
oil leak at vacuum pump.
coolant leak at the lower hose at the sensor.
some cases of the water cross pipe leaking under the intake.
Emission air hose leak under the intake.
Wasn't there some tranny problems with some 545I too?

i hope , that that mine will be good for my pocket .. mine is 11/2004 . . there is some knocking sound in engine but i thinks such sound has every 545i .. also one time there was something , when i turn the key , it was hard to start the engine and then it started straightaway ...
