It's weird. At least once a week my iPod which I keep in my 550 will freeze and stop working. I do a reset but it takes me at least 10 trys and I often have to hold the button in for several minutes in order for it to work. I used to think it was caused by the cold or heat but it happens equally in both. I have reloaded my software and no luck either. I do have about 23,000 songs so it is pretty full but I have about 20G left so it really should be fine. Anyone else have this problem??

Any tracks ripped with a variable rate used to lock up my 20GB iPod in my '08.

The only thing I thought was that when you open the doors the iPod gets powered up and then when you start the engine there may be a surge of power that causes it. Also, there have been a few times where it has sat overnight and the battery charge was nill in the morning which also shouldn't be.

Have you tested it outside the car? Obviously, something is wrong. I have a 30G Ipod video that I've never had to reboot. I do not have the ipod retrofit...just speaking to the ipod itself. I hope it is the ipod so you can just get a new one! Good luck.

Only freezes in the car when it's plugged in.
