I never disliked iDrive and even liked that it allowed me to change options without going to dealer. I was curious about the addition of the programmable buttons and wanted to see if they were the answer to a question that didn't need answering.

Your poll does not anticipate several possible answers

* Programmed them all and use them occasionally
* Programmed several and use those
* Programmed several and don't use them

While I appreciate the flexibility, the programming options are very limited in my '06. In the
'08 there are more options which should prove more useful.

They weren't available in MY 2006. First available with the LCI.

How about;

* Programmed none, use them frequently
* Would like to use, but my arms are short and stumpy and I can't reach them
* Would like to use, but my fingers are too fat so I cannot push one button at a time

?

I don't have Nav or bluetooth so I use the buttons as shortcuts for radio stations.

Without satnav or bluetooth they can only do:
radio channel
select another audio source (eg Aux-in = the armrest input or USB which we use for USB key)

so they're not true idrive shortcuts.... it would be nice to jump to a specific screen like fade/balance for example (which is quite a few clicks to get to on the idrive!)

its quite cool how they show what they will do if you lightly tough them.... but....

two favourite radio stations, home phone, office phone, wife's work, USB

I find it quite useful, especially when Idrive is doing something else, ie. PDC.
