The deal they gave me was $20 for 5 months. I've had this deal for the past 15 months. After the 5 months, I call them to cancel and tell them it costs too much and they just give me the same offer again.

I've always paid around $77 a year for sirius after my first year in all my cars. 4 (total).

Just tell them you plan to cancel it if it's that much ($140).
You need to enter prompt 4 which is for cancelation.

Heads up on the "A la carte" package... It doesn't work for our cars. You must get the premium package with all the channels or our E60 won't sync up to Sirius. Believe me, I tried. It simply wouldn't connect.

I never had Sirius before untill I bought this car. I wasn't going to activate it, but I decided it was worth a try. I bought 3 months for $20 or something like that.

First impressions:
  • sound quality can be better. You can pay for 128kbps which is $2 more, but WTF
  • Some stations still play commercials i.e. Foxxhole radio
  • Signal is kinda sensitive. I can drive by a tree and the station will sometimes go in and out.
  • Doesn't work at all under fixed structure. Signal will dissappear.

Other than that. It annihilates local stations, but Pandora is a great alternative if you don't want to pay for radio.

I too fell victim to the Sirius curse (months left on the previous owner's subscription) and have had it EVER since, on both BMW's! As for deals, the only one I know of is if you have two cars, the second subscription is discounted!

2 words in support of Sirius radio

Howard Stern, Bababooie!!

OK. 3 words.

talk stations have commercials but not the music. My one gripe with the music stations is how narrow the stations are (they only play 1 type of music each 80s, hard rock, country, rap)--I like a mix of genres. The loss of signals is a real drag.

If you are doing it for music, I would recommend iPhone and listen to Pandora over the 3G network.

I bought a 2008 535xiT in December with SAT radio installed (but not working). I was curious about the pricing and packages, etc., so I logged on to the Sirius site and noticed a free 1 year subscription with your "new" car. I was sure it wasn't going to work but I put in all of my info and the ID number from the radio and POOF! it worked! I got a free year! All I can figure is that the previus owner never actiated the subscription when he or she bought the car. But I actually don't even listen to it that much. I've got 1400 songs on a thumb drive plugged into my USB port so until I get burned out on my own stuff, I probably won't tune in often. But if you've recently bought your car, try what I did.
