i beleive the N62 and M62 are two VERY similar engines... therefor the 4,4 has been in buisness since 08/1996...

The last vehicle you will purchase... whats up?
I guess I just like the ride I've got now there are not that many years and/or money left in my plans.

Watching all the new stuff on the E60.net will keep me up to speed.

Go put a coat of wax on your car and take care of it and your '08 should last many many years.

Which will make you want to buy something newer eventually. Are you really that old or do you have a terminal illness?

No matter the age, no matter your health, no matter your financial condition, NEVER stop planning for your next car. Ya gotta have dreams...

The market sucks, job could go away, kids need to go to college but I'm still planning for another M3.... someday...

A man is only as old as the women he feels. I plan to live until a) the wheels fall off b) I run out of cash or c) I run out of time. Not sure of the sequence.

Terminal illness? Ask me after the election.

How the hell did this thread get to this subject?

You brought it here! You said this will be the very last car you will ever buy. If you're not in your twilight years or on your death bed, that's not possible. If you "drive it until the wheels fall off," you will still have to replace it with another. Or do you plan to take public/commercial transportation after that? If you "run out of cash," see my <--previous comments.

Or are you simply saying that you will "lease" from now on?

+1 - It was launched in 2001 for the 745. And these engines (or varients) are also used in the 645/650 and X5 vehicles as well.
745i, 645i, 545i and X5 4.4i; plus the 4.4L was chosen by Alpina and supercharged to 500hp for the B7 (for sure) and B5 (I think)...

I've got the 4.4L engine in my X5 and I think it's wonderful and very torquey, I doubt you would tell much difference vs the 4.8L ............. I drive X5 much harder than my 550 and I think it's great , don't sweat it !!

GT, there is another option ... feet.

But do tell me, when is the onset of the "twilight years?" Maybe I am there now.
