Just curious how much longer one could custom order an e60 550i...

Lease runs 2/2010 and might want to get another e60, rather than first year F10 with bugs, etc.

You are different from others. I would think the die hard fans will want the latest F10 and perhaps even stretching out their lease or purchase decision until then.

I think most car savvy folks know the risks of buying Model Year One of a car while the bugs are still being ironed out. Some folks dont mind the potential for headaches, while others wait until year two. I am guessing there are an equal number on both sides.

That being said, and having watched a friend go through the ringer with the E65 7 series when it came out, I wouldn't buy until year two, o matter how much I wanted the newest car on the block.

+1.

Not all BMW first year model launches have been smooth. Also, early buyers generally get soaked on price/lease deals.

But there sure is something alluring about a TT V8 with 407 bhp and 450 lbs-ft of torque. The new F10 550 is going to be much faster than the E60 550.

+1 especially if it looks like the spy c/g photos, blargh!! keep the 550 and spend a few on some dinan performance to blow doors off the f10 550, wait till 2012 and see what the new m5 looks like!

Well, if the F10 launches in March, 2010 as projected, I would guess that the latest you could order an E60 would be some time before the end of December, 2009? That would allow for a build date in January - with February being used to re-tool the Dingolfing factory to begin production of the F10 in March.

So your timing of your lease would work out about right. The only thing wrong is that you should custom order an M5 instead of a 550i.

My lease ends this December. I love the car but I'm not sure I want to own basically the same car for another 3 years. It's a company car and a shorter lease isn't an option. I would love to get the F10 - but not the first model year. As great as the car will probably be, that would be asking for trouble. The new E550 (2010) got good reviews and has the same engine/transmission as the current model so I'll probably look at that as well as the Jaguar XF. Who knows, after driving the competition, I may decide to just get another 550i.

DON'T DO IT!!! The MB's are all for old folks - it has replaced Buick as the car of choice for retirees. Then there's the Jag - it's owned by Ford NUFF SAID!!!
I definitely wouldn't get the first year of the F10 and conveniently enough my car is paid off next year so I will just hold onto it until the second or 3rd year of the F10 then trade up.

Last i heard, Production will end in early November. They should set a date a little before then, but it all depends on how far the completion of the next year design is. All orders would problary have to be placed before the end of November. Going to email some staff to check for sure!! Hope this helps!!
