Anyone out there import an E60 (new or preowned) into Canada? What changes were needed and how much did it cost to do them?

i wanted to, although BMW Canada changed the rules on importing as of Nov 2007,
(from what i read)
they made it harder as you need 2 letters worth $500 each, one you need before you reach the border, the other before you register it.
I have also been told all the changes must be done at a Authorized BMW dealer, (eg. US cars can turn off there DRL's in iDrive, but BMW would rather put a chip in for $4000)

Agian this is what iv read on forums , and heard. Spured me to buy here.

I am currently looking to import one right now. I can't get a Alpine White 545i from anywhere in Canada. The local dealers are telling me the odds of me even getting a 2005-2006 530i with a six speed will be slim to none.

I have no other option...
