Just wondering this, has anyone got an E60 just for the fun? Like if your honest with yourself you could easily manage with say a smaller or less expensive car?

I'm one.
A VW Golf 1.6 etc. could well do the job.

Do you feel guilty??
I know some of you may frown about this but if I get an E60 it is my dad buying it. I mean he seems to want the car as much as me but I somtimes feel guilty as if im making him spend money that doesnt need to be spent. He wants to go down to the shop and see it tomorrow, but maybe hes saying that to keep me happy. I suggested yesterday that maybe its too big for what we need and a 3 series coupe would be good. But he said if its a diesel it will be ok.

I don't think anybody actually needs a luxury car, so we could all manage with a less expensive car. Each of us make these choices how to spend our money - luxury car/more expensive vacations/etc. Just lifestyle choices that's all.

i wouldn't mind a G35 coupe or G37.
My first car wasn't a bmw, was far from that. I had to work my way up and have gone through a lot of cars, some nice and some not so nice.

Yep, I'm a driving instructor, so spend the day in a new model Honda Jazz which I also use privately. My wife has a Honda civic to use.
So the BMW sits outside doing very little unless we have a long trip.
Actually thought about selling the BMW and Civic and buying a Honda CRV to replace them, the wife can use it and it would be OK for longer trips.
Then 2 weeks ago drove to Austria and back in the BMW, how could I do that trip every winter in an 'ordinary' car?
900 miles in 14 hours and still awake at the end.
