Anyone here blown their throwout bearing before?
Thread title mistakingly says thrust bearing. Meant throwout bearing.
Anyone here with a manual or SMG blown their throwout bearing before? Did you encounter a little chatter or hissing/whirring when depressing the clutch pedal? I have a feeling I might have busted the throwout bearing on the 550i. Hopefully the pressure-plate and clutch is okay. Going to pull the transmission and have a look when I get the time, but wanted to see if anyone had similar experience before. |
Not on my BMW. Not sure how much the clutch, plated and bearing all cost, but I think I would be considering replacing all three if I were having to pull the tranny...

Had a throwout bearing wear out in my E30. yes, it rattled a lot unless I had the clutch pedal depressed at idle. if it's still rattling even with the clutch pedal depressed you have a problem.

Ended up pulling the transmission and took a video. Here is what I found: |
