Anyone have Geico insurance and getting a discount
Hi,
I have Progressive and got a $120 discount a year.
I got a "Stolen Vehicle Recovery Service Certificate" from my BMW dealer and faxed over to Progressive, as proff that I have BMW Assist.

Call your state's insurance regulation department and find out what their regulations state. Usually with insurance companies, they are not allowed to suggest or limit services to a name brand. They have to honor systems for what they are. They will give a discount for theft recovery systems, not LO JACK. For example, they will give a discount for the car having ABS, regardless if Bosch or Seimens makes the module. Don't let the incompetent phone rep tell you that only LO Jack is acceptable. If all else fails, call them and ask them what they need from LO Jack to get the discount. Most times they don't need anything. So you call back and tell them you have it. If your call is stolen you give law enforcement the information on your vehicle location and they recover it.

I asked Geico if I would get a discount since BMW Assist can function like Lo-Jack. They said no, they only give a discount to actual Lo-Jack, not to any other competing services even if they provide the same functionality.
Anyone here manage to get a discount?

I have Nationwide -- no discount.
I bought a used 2004 545 and the previous owner had LoJack installed in it. I've attempted to have the account transfered to my name but I have not received a response from the company. In reading their literature, it looks like I would have to pay a bunch of money to activate it in my name.
Does anyone know about this process and have any suggestions?
