The CIP upgrades are cumulative, but sometimes they create new problems. When I got the 13.3 update to enable Bluetooth, the radio mute button would no longer remember the user setting. CIP 16.3 fixed that.

So all you really need is a list of CIP 19 'fixes' and complain about one of them that you need, or else pay the $95 for the programming.

They are if it is required as part of a recall or to remedy a warranty related issue. You simply can't walk in and ask for an update becuase you want it. Search the board, I had the transmission slam (harsh downshift from 2nd to 1st) and was able to bring them the SIB (service bulliten) number. They updated the software no questions asked and the slam is gone. Find an issue if you want/think you need an update.

There is only one way to do that - go to your dealer and ask.

"How to get the software yourself"-question is still unanswered...

 

When ur CIP is updated, its not updated. Your CIP is completely formatted and loaded with a new version of the software.. thus making it retroactive. It's not like downloading software patches and updates. Its like reinstalling Windows!

Someone somewhere mentioned a list of versions and related fixes. I have searched and have been unable to locate this list. Does anyone know where it is? I searched on CIPS and CIP. The first turned up 5 threads, but that doesn't sound like enough. Strangely, searching on CIP found no threads. I'll go back and explore the search options more thoroughly.
