My car is currently being recovered to the dealer - BMW mobile tech suspects fuel pump failure - although display says gearbox.... all very odd as I just went to start it and the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree and car would not start.

Tech says fuel pump failure not "unheard" of, but I can't help but wonder if this is just an electrical gremlin in the computer...

I know BMW did a recall here in France for all 5-series diesel cars produced from week 1 to week 6 to change fuel pump. Mine was in.
