My Ride: 2006 550 SMG
I have a friend who wants to order a 530 SMG. Dealer is trying to convince him not to get the SMG. He says no one gets SMG in a 530 only the 550. I dont understand why and he doesnt give him a clear answer, is it under-powered for SMG or is he just trying to get him to go for the 550. Anyway my friend has already driven an SMG and he really likes it. I love mine and I told him to get what he wants and dont worry what the dealer says. Anyone with a 530 SMG please post your feedback.

Theres a few people here with SMG on a 530. Dude my sales guy tried ot get me not to get SMG on the 545... NOR alburn with Silver Gray. I'm glad I didnt listen to him since BOTH SMG and Auburn / Silver Gray are awesome!!! They're nuts. Get what you want. BTW... the 530 is not under powered with SMG. you get to keep the revs where it hits the hardest!

Get the SMG, don't listen to the dealers. MNost likely they just have 530 w/auto in stock and want to sell it instead of ordering new one. Well. maybe not ,but whatever their reason don't listen - 530 w/ SMG will be great.

My Ride: '05 545i - scheduled for ED pickup in Munich on 7/22!
If anything, SMG is better suited for the 530 than the 545/550 because the 545/550 has enough torque that you don't necessarily need to shift gears as much.
I'd imagine the 530 would be more fun with SMG since you'd probably be shifting more. Also doesn't the 3.0l engine have a higher redline than the V8? Even more revs to 'play' with then!

I think the dealerships trying to talk your friend out of the SMG is because they would have to order it. They probably want to sell you something from their lot or transfer nearby dealerships. Tell him to get the SMG if he really wants it..

My Ride: 2006 550 SMG
My bother in law, is moving to texas next week, so he has been trying to order from a local dealer down there. The first dealer wouldnt even order the SMG, and the second dealer said he would order the car with a $1000.00 off. So I called my local dealer (who I have sent 7 new clients in the past 6 mos) and he was dumbfounded. He told us not to worry he would take care of everything including the price. He has always given me and my referals the best deals. Just waiting for the call back from him. Thanks for your inputs!!!
