that button only resets your "customization of buttons, fm stations, address book in nav(if you have it)" ... its NOT like reformation your computer & wiping everything ... but then again .. not like you have any way to add accessories (software) to your idrive to mess it up anyway.
not sure what RESETing the idrive would do to improve your situtation ... whatever it may be. if your idrive is slow, crashes, weird things happen then i doubt that reseting would help. ... but give it a try & post up if it improved.

Okay - I'm going crazy. There is no ERASE SETTINGS function in my iDrive menus. I've been through everyone of them.
Where (in what exact submenu) do you find the delete all settings??
I only found RESET for the Audio. And that only affected Treble and Bass settings, perhaps Balance.
