Brought my car in to the dealer yesterday for an oil service and they ended up changing the wipers even though they were perfect to begin with (maybe because its been a year?). The new wipers are not smearing at all so I guess they are still ok. It just seems like the wiper blade is applying too much pressure to the windscreen, causing the screeching/dragging sound everytime the wipers move. The old wipers were prefectly silent. Is there any way to adjust the pressure of the wipers? Any other ideas?

Many thanks

you may have gotten some ever spray on the window. try a solvent to wash the window and follow with a good glass cleaner. it may help. the body shop over sprayed the wifes car, with result as you discribed.

Get some rainx and apply to your windshield. The stuff is amazing. When its raining you really don't need the wipers at all because the rain sheets off the glass and you can still see clearly. It will help your wiper chatter 100%

Its probablly because they are still new. After some use they will conform to your windshield and the noise will stop.

The rubber on your blades may be too stiff right now.
Try lifting the blades up, take a paper towel, and rub the blades up and down, putting a little pressure on to flex them a bit.

I had the opp results when I used rainx previously. The wipers worked horribly after that. However, that was years ago and I have not touched the stuff since then; maybe the company has improved on the formula? Whatever happens, rainx is definitely a no no for my cars

I have had the complete opposite results. The stuff even makes a ton of smashed bugs on the windsheild wash away much easier. When applied the rainx allows the wipers to glide, Absolutely the best car product i have used and I have nothing to do with the company.

What exactly did your wipers do ? Did you follow the application directions ?

Try using these Fusion flat one piece moulded rubber wiper blades (similar to Bosch Aerotwin wiper blades used on Mercedes, Audi....). I had them on my E39 and they were great, much better than the originals. I have them on my Ford Fiesta as well. When the ones on my E60 wear out I will probably get a set of Fusion blades.

Just check the length of the two E60 wiper blades and click on length search on the left and find Classic Fusion Flat Blade. Link below.

Has anyone else tryed these Fusion wiper blades or the Bosch Aerotwins?

When you are getting free genuine BMW parts as a part of your service plan why on earth would you want to spend money on some other brand. The BMW ones should work. Something is on his windsheild.
