I have 12K on the 545 and plan to put a ton of miles on her. Can I still buy a warranty from BMW or are there any good after-market warranties available?

The general consensus seems to be to buy a BMW warranty to avoid communication problems that can creep into the mix when a 4th party gets involved (you, the dealership, BMWNA and then the warranty company). Three is enough!

At 12,000 miles BMW is still happy to sell you a warranty.

OK. You can get BMW extended warranty anytime while you are still under factory warranty. Make sure you are buying BMW warranty and NOT a third party. BMW has $50 deductible but if you are not going to use your warranty for the entire time of the contract BMW WILL refund EVERY peny you've paid. If you have 545 and planing to put lot of miles on it you HAVE to have extended warranty and maintenance.

I wouldn't...why pay for something you may not use...that's what I did....on my last car, I was living in Orange County and bought the extended warranty when I was averaging 18K miles/year; I ended moving to downtown San Diego and dropped to 7K miles/year and never went above and beyond the mileage covered on the car (at that time was only 36K miles). Every time I pay for something up front that I might need, I get screwed but YMMV.
