the 5-er is in a different league - i've learnt my lesson - i got a c-class - the entry merc 3 years ago - recently drove an e class & the difference is as apparent between the 3-er & the 5-er. We just got ANOTHER 5-er 'cos the wife CANNOT live with the "small car feel" & the less well appointed feel of the 3-er.

36, Married with 2 kids. E60 is all mine as wife and kids get chauffeured around in company cars. My wife refers to the car as "the lawn ornament" as she only ever gets to see it sit outside the house.

Single. 33. The women here in the DC area actually ask you what you drive during the normal "getting to know you" conversations at bars and stuff. 3 series isn't a bad car by any stretch, but where I live, it's a car for young women and 20-somethings. People spend money on cars here - some wrongly assume if you don't have something, you can't afford it.

Also, being somewhat young and successful (and single), something has to appear serious and grown up to the guy holding the reigns at work.

All those reasons aside, the main reason I bought my car is because I absolutely fell in love with its looks and it had all the features and gee-wiz tech stuff I wanted. Oh yeah, and let's not forget how it drives...

22, single, 06 525i.

I'm down in DC too. And yes, the even the girls my age always ask "what do you do?" then almost immediately comes the "what do you drive?" even girls at my age. nice to see that I can look forward to these questions for at least the next 10 years.
