So I got my HPFP replaced a couple of weeks ago due to the Reduced Power light in I-Drive

I also brought it in for a wastegate rattle, and ended up with two new turbos.

Got the car back, and it ran what seemed like better than new.

Gas mileage improved, and even shifted smoother probably due to more stable turbo pressures, no lag etc.

Anyway, over the past couple of days I started to notice a stumble under WOT.

I thought it could be a bad tank of gas. Added BMW techron stuff and fresh gas. It got worse. Finally the real check engine light came on, not the I-Drive one, and the whole car was shaking at idle. Cycled the ignition, and everything cleared, but the stumble was still there.

Call the dealer, said it sounds like the fuel pump.

That's under 1,000 miles.

Gotta be a record.

The funny thing was that I originally thought it could be lag, but it would then learch forward with the whole stumble thing.

Anyway.

Just thought I'd share.

Do we know yet what exactly fails within the HPFP?

I've read of members on e90posts stating they have their second hpfp failing in less than 1 week..

that being said, here's a nice FAQ regarding hpfp symptoms...member Cobradav was nice enough to post various related SIB's regarding hpfp failure in this thread as well

I've been told there's a newer hpfp that's supposedly the fix, do you happen to know the PN of the hpfp they gave you?

ask for this one: 13 51 7 613 933 (newest version)

GL, my 535i is also in for service due to possible hpfp failure, hope it's a one time fix if so...

To be honest, the turbo on the 535 was the reason I went with the 550 and it is a major reason I am leaning heavily toward the M3. I know the technology has improved but I had an old Audi years ago that had major turbo problems. Now I hear about the HPFP issues around the 535 and I am having a hard time accepting the twin turbo engine on the F10 550. Sorry for the thread hijack!

haven't read any problems as of yet with the TT V8 that is in the F01 and X6 models (early x6 .35i yes, due that being the N54 engine). And the N55 single turbo seems to be holding up as well, I would think these issues are only with the initial TT/FI design (N54 engine). hopefully...because my next lease will most likely have a TT V8, just don't which model

BTT: GL ADD with your second hpfp...

The new HPFP number they put in was # 13 51 7 594 943

Is that an interim part between the old 881 part and your part number?

This part printout is for 335i not 535i, however the BMW parts confirmed latest 933 is the same for 535i

Here's a history of HPFP BMW has tried to resolve and their available dates

13-51-7-537-320 07/08
13-51-7-585-655 08/08
13-51-7-592-881 12/09
13-51-7-596-123 12/09
13-51-7-594-943 05/10
13-51-7-613-933 No date

Here's some more discuss on the latest part#'s http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...333519&page=20

13-51-7-613-933 is a rebuilt of 13-51-7-594-943. email from BMW parts dealer confirmed this 13-51-7-613-933 = $276.04 $220.00+$50.00 CORE CHARGE=$270.83

I just had my 535 back with the 13-51-7-594-943 on it. Software update is 37.2.0.4. I picked it up EOD yest and have not pushed or WOT yet. However, power feels good, smooth, wants to go even in D mode with RPI scoop and exhaust. Will stay with stock tuned for a while to see HPFP stablizes before I get the GIAC reflash back, or sooner if I get burnt!
