I have not had any real problems with dust. When I wash my car I also look wheels and if needed clean them.

I am pretty consistent about washing my car once a week. Perhaps once during the week, I take a wet rag and wipe down the outer portion of the wheel so the wheels look good. By the weekend, when I was, there may be significant dust (depending on how I've been driving), but it always wipes right off, and I use a Meguiar's tire brush to clean the entire rim.....front to back. Brake dust never cakes or hardens.....I think if you keep after it, and don't let it build up over a long period of time it's easier to maintain. I have used waxes before, and that also helps the removal of the dust....although with my 550, in the last couple of months I haven't waxed the wheels, and they clean very easily.....

Okay, the point is that no matter how often you wash your car, unless it's every day, it is going to look dirty if the wheels are a mess. Before I had low dust pads I either cleaned my wheels every day or, at the very least, washed the car 2X a week. Since then, I wash it once a week, if that because the car stays clean looking. It's almost like the pads pay for themselves in car wash savings.

Well......for me it's just not that bad......after a week, there is a thin film of brake dust, but it's not that bad.....and if I wipe the outer portions of the wheels once a week....to the tune of about 5-10 minutes, the wheels always look good....at least during the dry months. Rainy weather....all bets are off!! It would also seem that the brake dust issue is worse with some wheels....My feeling is that the Style 124 wheels are fairly open, and easy to clean, and that's one of the reasons I like them!!
