I wash my car a few blocks down from my house and by the time I make it home(four or five stops tops) my wheels look like they never saw the water. Anyone use a special chemical or those brake covers to handle this problem, or can I use a different type of pad?

Don't use brake covers. They do not allow the brakes to cool properly.

Try to wax your wheels or use a coating such as Rejex on the wheels.

I use Rim Ice it works pretty well. Only thing is you have to apply it every week I ordered some rejex too so when it gets here i'll use Rim Ice and Rejex together and see if that would help stop more of the brake dust.

Organic pads is a solution. A little smoother brakes when cold, but no dust at all. I have them on mine

It's a simple pads replacement.

Seller's description:
The PBR Axxis Deluxe Plus (Bendix Mintex) brake pads offer an exclusive OE equivalent organic and mild ceramic compound that provides outstanding stopping power with very low fade. Extremely quiet with proven long pad and rotor life and low rotor scoring. These pads are formulated from the latest premium quality materials, and are known for their extremely low dust. The Deluxe Plus brake pads will virtually elminate brake dust, without hurting performance.

Does such a pad change interfere with BMW maintenance warranty?

I finally found a solution but it takes a lot of effort

actually only did one wheel first to see what a difference it made

clean the entire rim and get the brake dust off - I had to use an abrasive (soft scrub) and have received a lot of comments on this - but anyway get the rim clean

then apply 2 generous coats of wax - same stuff I use on the car

then comes the hard part - have to clean the rims weekly - but on the rim I waxed came off with just a damp rag -

reapply the wax monthly

- OR just get the other brake pads - which is what I think I will do because this takes a lot of my time
