Second cause could be a solenoid. These solenoids are inexpensive (about $300.00- US) and sold in a complete set. Furthermore, the solenoids are color-coded for replacement sake. The solenoids are easy to access and replace.

2005 525d MT6 w/ M pack (985000 km)

Original engine broke down with a broken timing chain at 500K km, bought a used engine with 80k km on it and the engine still running fine only with 1x turbo change since. Today it has 985000km on it!

2005 525i MT6 140K. I've had it for just about a week. So far so good. I do believe I may hear a bearing noise ( howl/groan ) in the front. It may be just a tire noise as the car sat previously.

I had my trans oil changed at 135,000, it was already leaking slightly and mind you I drive it hard and frequent 130 often, very aggressive driver. I did not notice a drastic difference after, but it needed to be done. I bought my set through CTSC.com and got this...

Mechatronic seal adapter 6HP19/21
Oil change kit 6HP19/21
Sealing sleeve

$315 in total parts and $120 in mechanic to change it for me.

I have a 2004 standard 530i automatic.

Well worth the investment, especially if you are going to change your solenoids, I wish i did at the time, because my 4th gear sometimes doesn't want to click into 5th when pushing the pedal hard so you just gotta ease up and it'll change after a few seconds.

That website CTSC also sells the solenoids in individual or as a pack of 6, FYI.

97,000 miles on my 2010 528i xDrive. just purchased a few months ago. Plan on transmission fluid change, and brake fluid change as well this month. a few things that just started happening within the last week.... car is "squeakin" when i get in (shocks or struts?) i am not a heavy guy at 180 lbs, but the sounds makes me feel that way when accelerating, it feels like the front wheels are not engaging? you can feel the car "pulsing", my wife says it feels like it wants to die, but in the back it is going fine it really is something in the front surging when accelerating. any ideas?
