I'm currently training staff at the soon-to-open Atlantis The Palm resort in Dubai. I've seen a few E60's here and am curious to know if we have any UAE members on the site. What an over-the-top place this is! But it's hotter than h e double-hockey sticks over here! I'm allowing a friend to use my E60 as a favor to her during my time here. If ya'll see her in the streets, give her a friendly wave for me! I'm posting a few pics of the resort, including an arial wallpaper my fellow IT geeks here were kind enough to let me borrow lol. I get to be one of the first to stay there, but for obvious reasons, I won't be posting any interior pics until well after opening.

Here's some info on the Atlantis:

Atlantis Resort Dubai

And some pics taken via cell phone (with the arial being taken by the property):

Thanks man! But alas, no gambling here. It's STRICTLY forbidden - laws here have roots in Sharia (Islamic law). Even the internet is filtered. Here's what shows up when I try to go to yahoo personals!

There are lots of beautiful women here, but I ain't about to go pickin! Gotta respect the laws of the host country, no matter how different they are from home. Here's a nice example of what could happen:

Mohammad Yousuf, Deputy Director of the Dubai Courts Department, said while the Federal punitive law is implemented in the UAE, the situation is different in Dubai. The Tawajed or Tahseen Al Ma?asiya clause, he said, is not implemented in Dubai.

Sultan Khalifa Bin Bakheet Al Matroushi, Chairman of the Ajman Federal Appeal Court, said if a man and woman are sitting alone in the work place or in front of people, they will not be charged. If they are found in a bedroom or in a house or car and the circumstances are suspicious, they will face charges even if they have not committed adultery. The couple can also be deported, he said.
Justice minister explains the law

Mohammad Bin Nakhira Al Daheri, Minister of Justice, told that according to Sharia, if a man and woman are found in a closed place alone they may get arrested, but he gave an assurance that they are held for good reason. He stressed that the police would investigate first.

?If a couple is found alone in a closed place such as a house, room or car they may face legal action. There also must be a complaint against them. However, if their actions are not against public morals such as being in their work place or inside a lift, of course no action would be taken. If police receive a tip that a man and woman are in a closed place, they will investigate and if they are not doing anything against the law they will not be punished.

?There must be a complaint and investigation from police. The public prosecution and the judge can decide if something illegal was going on,? Al Daheri said

Nice Pictures, it seems that the Atlantis in Carribean doesn't even hold a candle to the one in Dubai

Interestingly enough, they dont allow gambling, filter the internet and restrict the interaction of men and women. However, alcohol is NOT forbidden in Dubai. Interesting that is not banned. I gotta believe that if you are well connected you can get around any of these laws. Its no different in Saudi Arabia, where they are a lot more strict. The people connected to the Royal Family do what they want.

You are right - in spite of the official law, it's overlooked until and unless a complaint is filed. However, those with low-numbered license plates (generally families of the al Maktoum family) tend to do whatever they want. I also hear that they may revisit the laws and make amendments to allow a level of gaming.

Here's the first picture of E60.net from my room at the Atlantis

It's an awesome room and resort. I wish I could share interior pics, but doing so in a public before official photos are relased to the general public is asking for trouble and could jeapordize future projects. Can't risk it!

Thanks for sharing those phenomenal pictures Al. That place is gorgeous! No gambling would damper the mood though, for me anyways

The law there sounds a bit scary! Do the rules apply even if it's with a significant other?

I'd love to visit that place, especially after seeing those pics! .. but you scared me a bit with those laws I can't imagine how expensive it would be.

A friend of mine used to live down there.. she said that when you see a Lambo or a Ferrari it's nothing out of the ordinary.

btw how long of a flight was it for you?
