I am wondering if there is any concern to be had regarding Shell gas with its nitrogen additive content. KNowing how touchy bmw engines are, mine has always run fine on shell which I tend to use but wondering long term if maybe its not a good idea.. not sure what nitrogen does to the engine--that is bad

I hope not...I always seem to seek out Shell stations as I appreciate their quality fuels.

I personally prefer 76 and Chevron.

For some reason, I always get crappier mile per gallon using Shell.

Its funny, last week I told my wife to only use shell unless she could not get to one at all. I notice a significant difference in performance and even sound for some reason when I use it on my Motorcycle. I tested that theory out just to see if it was a fluke. Shell beat out exxon Circle K and the fuel from on post in my opinion (mind you this is seat of the pants dyno testing). SHELL BABY!

Funny you should mention power. On top of my mind, I think I get the best mileage using 76, and most power using Chevron.

My link

The link is an article that provides some insights into Shell's nitrogen-enhanced gasoline. The nitrogen additive is reported to increase the stability and solubility of other additives at high heat and pressure. This would seem to be a good thing in modern BMW engines. While there is data to suggest the additives reduce valve deposits in some engines, it is unclear that this would be as effective in a direct injection engine. I use Shell V-Power exclusively in my 535i and have no complaints. YMMV.

Ya I did a bit of reading-interesting with DI that I think this will be an upcoming problem that designers will have to find a way around of as without the fuel and additives bathing the valves--they will build carbon like a mofo
