My Ride: 2003 330i (for sale) On order: 2008 550i Sport
Default

Ordered a 550i (Carbon black/black interior, Sport package, Cold weather package, Comfort access, Ipod/usb adapter, Satellite radio, Sunshades) first week in April. Dealer says it's 3 weeks out, Owners Circle website says "awaiting transport", and the BMWUSA customer service phone line says "At the port awaiting shipping, no shipping details available" (or something pretty close to that).

I know from reading a ton of posts on the site that there are various ways to track status or estimate arrival based on past shipping - when can I expect to take delivery?!?!

I'm absolutely going nuts now that I'm seeing pictures posted of what this car looks like! I'm currently driving a 2003 330i, and expecting a significant increase in power.

By the way, I'm in Minneapolis, MN.

Thanks!

I think that 3 weeks will be the soonest you will see the car. It is about 5 days or so on the water to the east coast and then it has to go to the VPC. My 550i sport has been at the VPC in California since April 9. so it has taken almost 2 weeeks to be processed. I was told that the VPC was backed up. Not sure about the one your car will go through. Then you still have to get the car from the east coast to where you are and then the dealer needs it for usually a day or so before they will release it. I was told that I would have mine on the 25th of April but it still is in California waiting to be shipped to me in Hawaii. As you can imagine, the extra wait is insult to injury.

Same story with me--I think that my car may have been on the same boat as CWG. Has been at the VPC since the first week of April and has me paranoid of some sort of damage during shipping or at the port...

Unless you have a "special" slot on the production line, I believe a typical manufacturing cycle from order to factory gate is about three weeks.

Then it needs to be shipped etc.

The car was built within a week of my order. Either the dealer had a slot at the front of the queue or they traded for one (I think they had a slot - they don't have any 08's on the lot yet and I think this car was to be one of their first).

So it's at the port waiting to get on a ship. Wondering when the next ship leaves!

If your vin is CT34090, it just got onto a ship and ETA at port in Charleston is 5/13. Estimating a week to 10 days to get the car from the VPC, it should be at the dealership around 5/20.

Just was told by my dealer that the VPC informed them that there is some sort of recall associated with the rear glass antenna and that this is what was holding up the processing of the cars at the VPC while they checked vin numbers for cars with the problem. They now tell me mine has the problem and the ETA to the dealer is unknown. I am so pissed

Okay - I've got it...ship is named "Courage" and is in fact due to arrive in port on May 13th. Thanks for the help and info on how to track this down.

CWG, 550ZSP - hope you both get yours soon.
