The Service Advisor at my local Dealers said that I should report that the iDrive was very slow - it seems that is the usual "excuse" for a re-code.

I've read on here that "CD keeps playing after car switched off" is a good one.

Two aspects here:

(a) there's a CIP upgrade to fix this
(b) it doesn't seem to work

My dealer is pretty generous when it comes to CIP upgrades. I have had upgrades with excuses like
- The car just doesn't drive right. It is sluggish
- Lately the fuel consumption has increased
etc.

The only problem so far has been that it takes them a couple of days to upgrade. The upgrades have invariably crashed which means that the process has to be restarted.

I told them the shifts are very rough, any chance of making them smoother?

usually, any "doesn't feel right" excuse works. they upgrade CIP before getting their hands dirty.

I just returned from my dealer, next thursday they will upgrade the software. My cd-player actually keeps playing for a while after the car is switched off. Besides this, i also have some memory-problems with the seats. They do not move right away in the correct position, after my wife drove the car. We will see, if an upgrade can solve this.

If you shove a gun in their lips, they'll probably help you.
