Any differentail experts here. Need 215k advice.
Hi.
I have an E60 530d (2.65:1 I think).
I was looking at a team mfactory diff but they don't offer one for a 530d - but I think some of their diffs are for 215k housings.
Is there any real difference in the the crown wheel size or other critical dimensions of the various 215k housings or are they all the same.
I know Quaife make a diff for my car but it costs almost twice as much to get one in Aus.
Cheers

Suggest you contact Mfactory directly and discuss. They would know best what will fit. It's a matter of what exact diff you have in your car.
I have their LSD in my sedan. Bought a used carrier from a 2009 528i with 29k on it. ($70). Then had my shop install the LSD unit and proceeded with the swap, which only took 2 hrs.
The other option I considered was a used M5 LSD. That would have required shortening my drive shaft. Everything else was a direct bolt-on job. I very nearly did it, thought it would have increased my final drive ratio from 3.46 to 3.62. Meaning rpms would go up by 100-200 while cruising on highway.
Still a good option as this is cheaper than buying any new LSD. The drive shaft would need to be balanced after shortening it. No big deal.

Hello Peder.
I inquired once and they said no - but I'm not sure if that meant they know the don't make one or they don't know that they do (hence the original post).
An M5 diff is possible but in Australia I would expect to pay more than for a new Quaife.
I'll ask mfactory again and be a bit more specific.
Cheers
