One of my xenon headlights developed "pink eye" then went dark. While researching the project, it seems a anti-static mat is suggested to prevent damaging electrical system. Is this really needed?

Not needed at all.

Thanks Sublime. For a moment there I wondered if I should just find a mechanic for a headlight bulb !!!
Not needed at all.

Hmmm...to change the bulb? Anti static is needed only if you are doing board and electronic circuit level trouble shooting...so I am sure you be ok without it,lol.

Thank you all for the feedback. I wondered about the mat. The Bentley Publishers service manual states the mat should be used. This being my 1st BMW, just thought I'd verify. Thanks again.
