Default Another way to charge the key fob other than the car???

Hello,

I don't have comfort access and my car has the newer key fob. I've been having range issues when toggling the alarm and my FM reception is pretty good so I'm going to eliminate issues with the diversity amplifier... for now.

However, I drive short distances and I'm wondering if it's not long enough to charge the key fob. Is there another way or hack to charge the key without the car? It would be cool to have some sort of inductance charger to hack.

Thanks!

The BMW Center has a desktop charger. You could leave the key with them for a day. I use other key on long road trips.

If your battery is going dead in your key you will have to go to the dealer for a new key or like some other people have done cut the key open and replace the battery.

Its the same tech (induction) so you should be able to charge it that way.

I had the exact same issue, good radio reception but lousy range that steadily got worse till I had to be by the back window before it would operate, I changed the diversity amp and never looked back.

From what I have read it may be worth cleaning the contacts (using a solvent) on both the amp and the contact point on the rear window before buying one some people have had varying success

worth a try?

^ +1 on the diversity amplifier.
I had the same issue. I even tried cleaning the contacts and bending the contacts to make sure a good contact is made. That didn't solve the problem. Replacement of the diversity amp solved the problem for me.

If the diversity amp is already replaced, then I'd say key replacement is the only solution.

Here it is...I did this the other day. Not replace, but clean the contacts.
