From which month of which year model the mp3 will work? I have Proffesional Navigation (widescreen and DVD-rom) and my car is may 2005. So after 2 years I'm wondering will it work?

P.S. I don't have an access to the car at the moment and i can't check it myself.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Our first E60 was 2004, with the professional radio (NOT navigation). This one played MP3's after a software upgrade late 04/early 05 (can't remember exactly when). I know that without the professional radio (the one with dual tuners), it would not play MP3. This is on a UK model.

My car is a late a 2004 model with the Professional satnav and originally couldn't play mp3 CD's. I had the car's software upgraded last weekend (which my dealer did for a bargain ?70 even though it took nearly 4 hours to upload) and now it is happy to play home burned mp3 CD's. I've also got the benefit of all the new iDrive menu's and colours!!

Have you got the pics for what the iDrive looks like? I have MP3 capability on my 2004 530 (UK). ?70 is a bargain. Worcester quoted ?200. and thats at a discount!

I haven't got any photo's to hand but there are pictures posted elsewhere on the Forum showing the new 'platinum' coloured menu screen that seems to come with CIP 26 or any new LCI E60.

As for the bargain price - I don't think my dealer realised that my mp3 retrofit actually involved a full software upgrade. When I booked my car in for the work to be done they told me it was only a 30-60 minute job although the reality was that it took 4 hours. I don't think anyone else would get away with only being charged ?70 plus I am a long standing customer of theirs.

Mike_O and Miity, and can you play mp3s with any bitrate or it's just 128 and 192?

It'll be whatever bitrate that Windows XP uses as a default for burning CD's. I've never looked into the detail or changed any of the burn settings simply because I've never had any problems playing any CD I've burned using Windows (if it ain't broke don't fix it!).
