Carbon Black is an astounding black metallic paint color that shows a dark blue/purple hue in the paint under certain lighting conditions.
I think the only cars in the U.S. with Carbon Black available recently have been the outgoing M3s. You can't even get it on the new M5!
Hinckley - You've got a CB ordered. That should look spectacular, especially with the beige interior. Nice combo.

According to the US ordering guide:
Monaco Blue (A35) and Black Sapphire (475) are still available too. And Platinum Bronze (A53) is available starting in June. 11 colors total on the 550i. All other E60s have 10 colors available.

I hate to disagree - especially after your nice compliment. But take a look at the "Notes" section in the 550 ordering guide. It states that "ZSP must be ordered with . . . " and then lists the codes for only 7 colors.
All of these niceties are driving me crazy. I think the new sport auto transmission is going to be a big improvement over the current steptronic ... and I would love to have CB! But for about the price of a new 550i Sport, we could get an excellent used M5. Or should I just mod my existing car with a tighter suspension and sport exhaust.

I find it interesting that Monaco Blue is not offered on the 550 anymore but has been promoted up to M5 status. I really like the Monaco Blue and I wonder what the Deep Sea Blue is like.
So in 3 years they have gone from Orient Blue to Monaco Blue to Deep Sea Blue.

You're right! I missed that note ... sorry for the confusion. This just makes it more interesting on how they are differentiating the 550.

Whats the difference between Carbon Black and Jet Black?
The carbon black unique color was only offered to the E39 ///M5s and E46 ///M3s. As previously described the colors gives a purple/blue hue under certain lighting, mainly under the sun or a clear day. And jet black is just straight up very black, which I prefer
I'm guessing that in the future carbon black will be back again for E60 ///M5s, but hey that just makes the MY2008 550i sport that much cooler!

Although it's nice to say that if someone orders the 550i with everything, he/she may as well as just get a used ///M5. But no matter what you do, it's never going to be as exclusive as the actual M car. There's just something so damn powerful about that letter in the alphabet, it's one of the most scariest letter in the auto world

A couple of things I want that are not on my May 07 Build 07 E60
The RTTI
The leather on the center console. (I will be ordering that part when available)
The M suspension. (But Id like to see how it rides 1st)
The Led taillights. ( But Id like to see those 1st too)
Everything else seems to be sort of minor to me.
It wil be interesting to see how expensive the sport pkg is on the 550 when you consider it comes with the Aero Kit. But then they don't have to toss a perfectly good front and rear regular bumper away so maybe it won't be a huge increase. Someone mentioned 3% but thats like $2,000 increase. Can't wait for the pricing.

Yeah, when I get the pricing I'll let you guys know, but it may not be for a little while tho. I think we JUST started to build them but the pricing won't be released until they're done I guess.
